How MPI Glass Claims Work

Filing a glass claim in Manitoba is simple. Here's what you need to know.

1. Contact Us

Call us or fill out the form below. You don't need to call MPI first - we can open the eGlass claim on your behalf.

2. We Handle Everything

We assess the damage, determine if it's a repair or replacement, and schedule your appointment - usually within 1-2 days.

3. Pay Only Your Deductible

You pay your deductible ($0-$750 depending on your coverage), we handle the rest with MPI. Glass claims don't affect your rates.

Understanding Your Deductible

Your deductible depends on your Autopac coverage level. Good news? Glass claims don't affect your insurance rates or future premiums. It's a separate "glass-only" claim.

Deductible Options: Manitoba drivers choose from $0, $100, $200, $300, $500, or $750 deductibles based on their coverage level.
Rock Chip Repair: Often $0 deductible with Plus or Deductible-Free Glass coverage.
Vandalism: With a police report, your deductible may be waived.

Check your vehicle registration - your deductible is listed on the "ALL PERILS" line.

Repair or Replacement?

MPI has specific rules for what can be repaired vs. replaced.

Eligible for Repair

  • New damage (not previously repaired)
  • Up to 4 chips total (max 2 in driver's viewing area if larger than 1 inch)
  • Chips smaller than a loonie don't count toward the max
  • Cracks up to 12 inches that don't reach the windshield edge
  • No damage to both glass layers or exposed laminate

Requires Replacement

  • Damage over heated windshield elements
  • Damage over camera/sensor systems (ADAS)
  • Tempered glass (side/back windows) - it shatters
  • Cracks longer than 12 inches or reaching the edge
  • Multiple cracks or extensive damage

ADAS Calibration After Replacement

If your vehicle has safety cameras (lane departure, auto-braking, etc.), they'll need recalibration after a windshield replacement. We do this on-site - you don't need to go to a dealer. We're one of the only mobile ADAS calibration shops in Winnipeg.

Special Situations

Some claims need to go through MPI directly first. We can help you figure out which path to take.

Vandalism Claims

  • In Winnipeg: File online with Winnipeg Police Service
  • Outside Winnipeg: Contact local police where damage occurred

With a police report number, MPI may waive your glass deductible.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do glass claims affect my insurance rates?

No! Glass-only claims do not affect your Autopac premiums, driver's license premiums, or future rates. It's completely separate from at-fault collision claims.
